  17.   Ed. Note:  I typed this file at 7am after a long day under the influence
  18.  of too much Diet Coke and DayGlow Abortions music in the background. 
  19.  At a time such as this, I enjoy Dr. Seuss and find it quite soothing to read
  20.  his literature.  I also enjoy verbally degrading my dog and hyperventilating.
  21.  At any rate, this is a great piece of..literature to have and deserves a place
  22.  in your library.  Thanks to Tippy Turtle (Bunny Lust author) for providing
  23.  me with this delightful book.

  27. The sun did not shine.
  28. It was too wet to play.
  29. So we sat in the house
  30. All that cold, cold, wet day.
  31.  
  32. I sat there with Sally.
  33. We sat there, we two.
  34. And I said, "How I wish
  35. We had something to do!"  [Ed. Note:possible incest inuendo?]
  36.  
  37. Too wet to go out
  38. And too cold to play ball.
  39. So we sat in the house.
  40. We did nothing at all.
  41.  
  42. So all we could do was to
  43. Sit!
  44.     Sit!
  45.         Sit!
  46.             Sit!
  47. And we did not like it.
  48. Not one little bit.
  49.  
  50.  >BUMP!<
  51. And then
  52. something went BUMP!
  53. How that bump made us jump!
  54.  
  55. We looked!
  56. Then we saw him step in on the mat!
  57. We looked!
  58. And we saw him!
  59. The Cat in the Hat!
  60. And he said to us,
  61. "Why do you sit there like that?"
  62. "I know it is wet
  63. And the sun is not sunny.
  64. But we can have
  65. Lots of good fun that is funny!"
  66.  
  67. "I know some good games we could play,"
  68. Said the cat.
  69. "I know some new tricks,"  [Ed. Note:Watch for child molesting]
  70. Said the Cat in the Hat.
  71. "A lot of good tricks.
  72. I will show them to you.
  73. Your mother
  74. Will not mind at all if I do."
  75.  
  76. Then Sally and I
  77. Did not know what to say.
  78. Our mother was out of the house
  79. For the day.
  80.  
  81. But our fish said, "No!  No!
  82. Make that cat go away!
  83. Tell that Cat in the Hat
  84. You do NOT want to play.
  85. He should not be here.
  86. He should not be about.
  87. He should not be here
  88. When your mother is out!"
  89.  
  90. "Now!  Now!  Have no fear.
  91. Have no fear!" said the cat.
  92. "My tricks are not bad,"
  93. Said the Cat in the Hat.
  94. "Why, we can have
  95. Lots of good fun, if you wish,
  96. with a game that I call
  97. UP-UP-UP with a fish!"
  98.  
  99. "Put me down!" said the fish.
  100. "This is no fun at all!
  101. Put me down!" said the fish.
  102. "I do NOT wish to fall!"
  103.  
  104. "Have no fear!" said the cat.
  105. "I will not let you fall.
  106. I will hold you up high
  107. As I stand on a ball.
  108. With a book on one hand!
  109. And a cup on my hat!
  110. But that is not ALL I can do!"
  111. Said the cat...
  112.  
  113. "Look at me!
  114. Look at me now!" said the cat.
  115. "With a cup and a cake
  116. On the top of my hat!
  117. I can hold up TWO books!
  118. I can hold up the fish!
  119. And a litte toy ship!
  120. And some milk on a dish!
  121. And look!
  122. I can hop up and down on the ball!
  123. But that is not all!
  124. Oh, no.
  125. That is not all...
  126.  
  127. "Look at me!
  128. Look at me!
  129. Look at me NOW!
  130. It is fun to have fun
  131. But you have to know how.
  132. I can hold up the cup
  133. And the milk and the cake!
  134. I can hold up these books!
  135. And the fish on a rake!
  136. I can hold the toy ship
  137. And a little toy man!
  138. And look!  With my tail
  139. I can hold a red fan!
  140. I can fan with the fan
  141. As I hop on the ball!
  142. But that is not all.
  143. Oh, no.
  144. That is not all...."
  145.  
  146. That is what the cat said...
  147. Then he fell on his head!
  148. He came down with a bump
  149. From up there on the ball.
  150. And Sally and I,
  151. We saw ALL the things fall!
  152.  
  153. And our fish came down, too.
  154. He fell into a pot!
  155. He said, "Do I like this?"
  156. Oh, no!  I do not.
  157. This is not a good game,"
  158. Said our fish as he lit.
  159. "No, I do not like it,
  160. Not one little bit!"
  161.  
  162. "Now look what you did!"
  163. Said the fish to the cat.
  164. "Now look at this house!
  165. Look at this!  Look at that!
  166. You sank our toy ship,
  167. Sank it deep in the cake.
  168. You shook up our house
  169. And you bent our new rake.
  170. You SHOULD NOT be here
  171. When our mother is not.
  172. You get out of this house!"
  173. Said the fish in the pot.
  174.  
  175. "But I like to be here.
  176. Oh, I like it a lot!"
  177. Said the Cat in the Hat
  178. To the fish in the pot.
  179. "I will NOT go away.
  180. I do NOT wish to go!
  181. And so," said the Cat in the Hat,
  182. "So
  183.    so
  184.      so...
  185. I will show you
  186. Another good game that I know!"
  187.  
  188. And then he ran out.
  189. And, then, fast as a fox,
  190. The Cat in the Hat
  191. Came back in with a box.
  192. A big red wood box.
  193. It was shut with a hook.
  194. "Now look at this trick,"
  195. Said the cat.
  196. "Take a look!"
  197.  
  198. Then he got up on top
  199. With a tip of his hat.
  200. "I call this game FUN-IN-A-BOX,"
  201. Said the cat.
  202. "In this box are two things
  203. I will show to you now.
  204. You will like these two things,"
  205. Said the cat with a bow.
  206.  
  207. "I will pick up the hook.
  208. You will see something new.
  209. Two things.  And I call them
  210. Thing One and Thing Two.
  211. These Things will not bite you.
  212. They want to have fun."
  213. Then, out of the box
  214. Came Thing Two and Thing One!
  215. And they ran to us fast.
  216. They said, "How do you do?
  217. Would you like to shake hands
  218. With Thing One and Thing Two?"
  219.  
  220. And Sally and I
  221. Did not know what to do.
  222. So we had to shake hands
  223. With Thing One and Thing Two.
  224. We shook their two hands.
  225. But our fish said, "No!  No!
  226. Those Things should not be
  227. In this house!  Make them go!
  228. "They should not be here
  229. When your mother is not!
  230. Put them out!  Put them out!"
  231. Said the fish in the pot.
  232.  
  233. "Have no fear, little fish,"
  234. Said the Cat in the Hat.
  235. "These Things are good Things."
  236. And he gave them a pat.
  237. "They are tame.  Oh, so tame!
  238. They have come here to play.
  239. They will give you some fun
  240. On this wet, wet, wet day."
  241.  
  242. "Now, here is a game that they like,"
  243. Said the cat.
  244. "They like to fly kites,"
  245. Said the Cat in the Hat
  246.  
  247. "No!  Not in the house!"
  248. Said the fish in the pot.
  249. "They should not fly kites
  250. In a house!  They should not.
  251. Oh, the things they will bump!
  252. Oh, the things they will hit!
  253. Oh, I do not like it!
  254. Not one little bit!"
  255.  
  256. Then Sally and I
  257. Saw them run down the hall.
  258. We saw those two Things
  259. Bump their kites on the wall!
  260. Bump!  Thump!  Thump!  Bump!
  261. Down the wall in the hall.
  262.  
  263. Thing Two and Thing One!
  264. They ran up!  They ran down!
  265. On the string of one kite
  266. We saw Mother's new gown!
  267. Her gown with the dots
  268. That are pink, white and red.
  269. Then we saw one kite bump
  270. On the head of her bed!
  271.  
  272. Then those Things ran about
  273. With big bumps, jumps and kicks
  274. And with hops and big thumps
  275. And all kinds of bad tricks.
  276. And I said,
  277. "I do NOT like the way that they play
  278. If Mother could see this,
  279. Oh, what would she say!"
  280.  
  281. Then our fish said, "Look!  Look!"
  282. And our fish shook with fear.
  283. "Your mother is on her way home!
  284. Do you hear?
  285. Oh, what will she do to us?
  286. What will she say?
  287. Oh, she will not like it
  288. To find us this way!"
  289.  
  290. "So, DO something!  Fast!" said the fish.
  291. "Do you hear!
  292. I saw her.  Your mother!
  293. Your mother is near!
  294. So, as fast as you can,
  295. Think of something to do!
  296. You will have to get rid of
  297. Thing One and Thing Two!"
  298.  
  299. So, as fast as I could,
  300. I went after my net.
  301. And I said, "With my net
  302. I can get them I bet.
  303. I bet, with my net,
  304. I can get those Things yet!"
  305.  
  306. Then I let down my net.
  307. It came down with a PLOP!
  308. And I had them!  At last!
  309. Thoe two Things had to stop.
  310. Then I said to the cat,
  311. "Now you do as I say.
  312. You pack up those Things
  313. And you take them away!"
  314.  
  315. "Oh dear!" said the cat,
  316. "You did not like our game...
  317. Oh dear.
  318.         What a shame!
  319.              What a shame!
  320.                      What a shame!"
  321.  
  322. Then he shut up the Things
  323. In the box with the hook.
  324. And the cat went away
  325. With a sad kind of look.
  326.  
  327. "That is good," said the fish.
  328. "He has gone away.  Yes.
  329. But your mother will come.
  330. She will find this big mess!
  331. And this mess is so big
  332. And so deep and so tall,
  333. We ca not pick it up.
  334. There is no way at all!"
  335.  
  336. And THEN!
  337. Who was back in the house?
  338. Why, the cat!
  339. "Have no fear of this mess,"
  340. Said the Cat in the Hat.
  341. "I always pick up all my playthings
  342. And so...
  343. I will show you a another
  344. Good trick that I know!"
  345.  
  346. Then we saw him pick up
  347. All the things that were down.
  348. He picked up the cake,
  349. And the rake, and the gown,
  350. And the milk, and the strings,
  351. And the books, and the dish,
  352. And the fan, and the cup,
  353. And the ship, and the fish.
  354. And he put them away.
  355. Then he said, "That is that."
  356. And then he was gone
  357. With a tip of his hat.
  358.  
  359. Then our mother came in
  360. And she said to us two,
  361. "Did you have any fun?
  362. Tell me.  What did you do?"
  363.  
  364. And Sally and I did not know
  365. What to say.
  366. Should we tell her
  367. The things that went on there that day?
  368.  
  369. Should we tell her about it?
  370. Now, what SHOULD we do?
  371. Well...
  372. What would YOU do
